We all want to practice at a regular basis. If only we could stick to it.
Sometimes we succeed in practicing on a daily basis for a few weeks or even months in a row and then life takes over and we move on to busier and seemingly more important things.
But don’t worry, it’s okay to pause once in a while, reflect on it and just let it be.
And then suddenly that moment comes again when we fuel ourself with inspiration and we get back to the game. Now this time you want to hang in there as long as possible. To do that you need to keep motivating yourself. Motivation is the key to success! One of the ways to motivate yourself is to celebrate your successes and reward yourself.
Let’s say you want to learn a particular song. Depending on the difficulty of the song you can attach an appropriate reward to it.
Or reward yourself for 10 daily practice sessions of 30 minutes in a row and another one for 30 daily practice sessions in a row. Reward yourself for building a 10 song repertoire and playing it in front of people, for writing or recording your song.
Keep the celebrations alive and make it fun!
What you don’t want to do is to pull out your wallet on each celebration, that won’t make you happy in the long run. Sometimes it’s okay with a fairly great accomplishment (you decide), but there are many rewards don’t won’t have to cost that much or nothing at all and are even more satisfying.
Here are some ways to reward yourself and celebrate your guitar efforts:
1 – Take a day off to do whatever you want
2 – A night out with your best friends
3 – Take a bubble bath
4 – Enjoy meditation or Yoga
5 – Enjoy your favorite music in your comfy couch
6 – Make great cappuccino or a nice cup of tea
7 – Take a nap in your warm bed
8 – Play guitar and hang around in your local guitar shop
9 – Go to the library and find yourself a new book to read
10 – Brows the web for your favorite blogs and websites
11 – Try or learn something new
12 – Chill on your guitar and play whatever you like
13 – Watch your favorite tv-show or a great movie
13 – Go to your favorite place or spot
14 – Have an amazing lunch with your partner
15 – Jam with your fellow musicians
16 – Print off favorite and inspiring pictures and hang them on your wall
17 – Go outdoors. Go for a run, ride your bike or take a walk in the park
18 – Blend a raspberry smoothie
19 – Turn off all electronic devices and read in bed in the middle of the day
20 – Go to your favorite concert
Enjoy your hard work, stick with it and reward yourself!
