Today I present to you a list with 21 online musician tools so you don’t have to download or install anything. Just click the links and you’re up and running.
19 out of 21 tools are free to use. Most of them are virtual tools, a few of them are blogs but they can be a great tool as well.
The tools come quite in handy whenever you are practicing, playing, transcribing, improvising, songwriting or promoting.
I’m a big fan of online music tools and resources. It’s great to have access to these tools from any computer where I happen to be. It makes life a lot easier.
One of my personal favorites is tool #8 for improvising over blues backingtracks. They sound really cool.
In case you are going to copy/paste this list on a blog, a spreadsheet or mail it to someone, (which you are free to do) I wouldn’t want anyone to miss out on my own blog so that’s why I put Guitarhabits on #21.

very very nice klaus, I got this info today in my first newsletter i received from you. but it’s … so much… i don’t know where to start ;-)
The first link that I followed was the Gibson Chord Finder – I wonder if anyone else has tried it and encountered what I did? Of the 4 view choices, “Right-Handed Upright” and “Left-Handed upside down” actually put notes on the fretboard. The other two views place the notes on the headstock (not very helpful!)
Also, I guess this guitar is tuned a whole step down, as every chord I selected is off by 2 frets. Something isn’t quite right, but it seemed like a good idea. ( I thought there might be browser issues, so I quit Safari and tried it in Firefox…same deal)

Thanks for some excellent advice. It is easy to get lost, with all the information there is out there. I only started learning earlier this year. I have to remind myself often of what I really want. Learning songs and playing them how you want to is great. Fingerpicking is great fun. I know it seems hard at first, and I have gone back to learning patterns thorougly. Once you have your brain and fingers trained a bit, it gets easier. Patience and practice are so important. Each day you get better, but it happens in stages. Some small steps and sometimes you do leap! All the best to fellow learners out there!

Hey great article, the Scale Finder tool is one I’ve used a million times so it’s great to see it getting some recognition. One tool that’s not listed here is http://keeping-tabs.io . It’s a website that I’ve made and is a guitar practice tracking application that allows lessons and practice routines to be managed and practiced. It also tracks user’s practice sessions and allows guitar players to see their progress over time and identify what they need to work on / see how far they’ve come. After signing up for free, users can get started by creating their own lessons or using the free lessons that were pre-created to help get them started immediately.
I’d love to hear what people have to think about it!
Check out the ChordPulse app on http://chordpulse.com/ , a cool soft to create jamtracks on the fly with the chord progression at your choise, and the chord versions you choose and in the style you want.
There is the Lite version wich is free, and doesen’t have all the music styles, like the full version, and you can’t export the tracks. But it worth the price.
Hi! Really love list here! I would like to add reference if i may to my overall favorite tuner I have found so far. Pitch Lab is found at the play store . I have not only found it to be very accurate . But also ,within it,s great selection of interfaces built in, a great chord finder as well.In that it will display , as far know,as many different notes as it can hear. Give it a try.
